Post rear window in a cab

There is a zipper surrounding the rear plastic window. Does this mean it is replaceable. Has anyone changed it and does anybody know of a place that carries replacement windows?

Couldn't find anything on this topic in the archives.

Thanks

The zipper will not remove the back window for a easy replacement. A tool is required that is only available through Porsche or a quality installer. You may want to check with Auto's Int'l that is advertised in Pano.

But does the window need replacement ? P-21 polish with a small drop of Blue Magic take our most yellowing/scratches when window is really bad when used with cotton cloths.

The older manuals indicated you should unzip the window before putting the top down to prevent scratches. Not sure if the 993 manual indicates this, but I think that was the reason for the zipper.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the rear 993 cab windows were glued in and require a special tool to replace. 964 and earlier were sewn in, so they're easier to replace.

As a reference point, when I first got my 964 cab, I had the rear window replaced for around $200.

The 993's require a special tool for replacement, I forgot what is called, but the tool is very expensive. I never replaced the 993 back window, but undertand with parts and labor it is several hundred dollars.

Don't know about 964 back window.

Hey Mo-

Where can I find Blue Magic??

I just listed a post above about it, before I saw your comment.

I need some of this stuff for my cab window.

TIA

Robert,

I purchased my Blue Magic, a metal polish cream at a club event. I am told it is available at Pep Boys, and Walmart. Don't know where can be purchased on the web. The web site bluemagic.com is a different company. However in looking container, it lists the following address:
Blue Magic, Cleveland, OH. Maybe you can call the company directly and determine where it is distributed.
