Default Poly Top Mounts

I understand solid top mounts are standard equipment for track cars and stock for street. I’ve seen many owners remove solid top mounts after a short while only to go back to stock at my local tuner shop. I can’t help but think this would be a perfect application for a poly mount. Something stiffer that that would increase shock control yet still have good NVH isolation properties. Has anyone of the aftermarket suppliers (rennline ERP etc) gone down that road? I bet with enough interest Darren at FD Motorsports would take on the challenge.

I suspect someone has tried this. My concern would be that if they were strong enough to withstand the impact forces they would end up being as stiff as metal mounts. I suspect the rubber OE mounts if fresh really don't move very much but do isolate vibration well, unfortunately, the Porshe branded rears cost almost $240 each and the fronts almost $300 each this may be why some consider aftermarket solutions in the first place. There are some unbranded ones on eBay for a lot less but it is hard to tell if they are well made from the pictures.

I think the OEM ones move quite a bit. Not sure how much of a “problem” that is. Remember the tires also act as undampened springs.

The OEM mount has limiters to prevent then punching through from what I remember. Poly would still insulate some harshness yet not move nearly as much as OEM.
