Post new oil cooler fan resistor fixed my problem

I first did the jumper test...good high speed...no low speed. I then did the measurement test...>1K ohm. Bought new resistor, had mechanic install it...presto...low spped operation works great! I asked him if he had seen many instances of bad resistors. He said none at all. I highly suspect most people with bad resistor never even notice that their low speed is not working. I suppose low speed not working is not that big of a deal...but if high speed was not working, then you could have major problems...nothing to stop temperatyre from going off the chart

Thanks to Randall and others for your very good advise and guidance <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Allen, where is the oil temp guage when the low speed fan comes on? Mine comes on at about 230, which seems high to me.

I haven't had it automatically turn ON in low speed yet. I just did the jumper test and confirmed low speed operation that was absent prior to the resistor replacement.
