Default Tiptronic transmission mount

Has anyone DIY'd a transmission mount change on a tiptronic?
It looks like the manual and tip mounts are the same.
Wondering if it can be accomplished easily and with the transmission in the car.

Did you notice any improvement when changing the mount - manual or tiptronic?
I'm slowly changing all the bushes on the old bird - and was wondering if this might be one to change in the next round of refreshes.

Easy job but only worth it if the old ones are really gone or when you change to solid ones. This is only worth it if you change all gearbox and engine mounts.
And yest manual and tiptronic have the same mounts.

Ok thanks Holger3.2
I might as well change it out - its been 25 years.
Will report back when done with changes.
Tiptronic crowd would probably appreciate the feedback.

Hi Heygeebaby:

You were right, other Tip owners like me would be interested in the feedback. Did you change it out yet?

Thanks,

Ron

Not yet Ron.
I've got a bunch of things lined up for the next oil change.
Tie rod ball joints + oil change + rear right cv boot + alignment + what ever fails before then.
I'm just looking at the parts now and I think we will do the main bushing and also the bracket bushes as well.
I'll check my engine mounts as well - there where done about 6 years ago. But I'll do the transmission mounts first and then see what the difference is before any engine mounts will be installed.
Won't be long mate.
Hope all is well.

I changed my tiptronic transmission mount to an RS one. Driving was slightly more vivid after, or might be my subconcience convinced itself
Be aware that it can be unmounted with transmission in, but I did it on a lift, and held the transmission with a tall special jack.

Before you unmount , make sure you:
have a press shop next to where you are, since mount is pressed in transmission end arm
and the press shop has the dye with correct size of the mount
the trans mount is shaped so bad, it is very difficult to mount it on a press
(the size of the mount is bastard, to check if shop has the right size dye, visit the shop with the new mount, before you
unbolt everything)
No press shop next to where I am did have the correct dye, so we pressed the old mount SLOWLY out with the new mount,
we took a huge risk of tearing both, but it worked, we were lucky

Thanks Geo
Just the info I need.
Did you also change the bushes on the bracket or just the single big bush on the mount?

Someone here found a deal on an RS mounts 964 375 055 80 for about $30 each and we grabbed them. yes only the big bushing
The bracket exists new with bushing installed as well , check the price.993 375 041 00
If bushing and install price is very close to a new bracket/bushing, better buying the bracket maybe
It cost me $50 installed back then and was a no brainer, but if too expensive, just unmount and check if cracked
