Removing Shifter Ball and Closing a Frunk Properly.
I want to replace the shifter ball (6 speed) in my car. How do you replace the ball and where can I purchase an OEM replacement, cashmere with a silver colored shift diagram.
Also, how do you close the trunk properly. I have been told to place my fingers on the crest while others have instructed me not to push on the crest, but instead, next to the crest on the paint.
Thank you.

Twilight,
Taking the second one first, I was told and do put my palm on the crest and gently push until it latches. I am sure a few fingers works just as well.
As far as a replacement ****, the C4 **** is better and different than the C2. When I priced out a new boot and **** it was $286 (now $390) and blue leather I needed was out of stock. The C2 is about half as much. I believe they interchange but I don’t know and the shift pattern is black on a C2. You can check with your favorite Porsche parts supplier (dealers, pelican etc.) to see if they have a C4 **** and boot in cashmere. I was told by Porsche that if you order one, even if it shows out of stock, eventually they make one for you and ship it out, but I did not try as (1) $286 is a lot of money and (2) I liked the function first **** I ordered. I understand carbone in Poland will recover your existing **** and make a new boot for less money, but no personal experience.

You're link is also helpful. Does anyone know if I can buy only the cap and ball in cashmere? The car is a C4 which I just learned is a different shifter.

You can not get the plastic shift insert on its own from Porsche, it is available aftermarket in real aluminum though!

You purchased your 993 new, and thus have owned it for more than 20 years. And you’re asking how to close the trunk lid?
I trust this is a joke.

Here's my method for closing the Frunk lid: Place the palms of your hands on the furthermost edges of the lid in a line parallel with the emblem and press down until the lock engages. This eliminates the possibility of damaging the emblem or causing an indentation to the lid surface.

What do you do about the fingerprints you leave behind?

Thanks for valuable information. I will check Pelican to see if they have my shifter in cashmere. The next challenge is to get the shift pattern in aluminum color to match my car. I never knew the C2 and C4 shifters are different. Good information.

I'll leave the answer to your discretion. You have to give me some credit for not driving twenty-five (25) years with the frunk open.......
