Cool My new 97 993 Carrera S

Just thought I would share some photos of my new (to me) 97 993 Carrera S.

The car has 11k miles on it and looks brand new. The previous owner was as **** as I am about cars, which made it easier for me to pull the trigger. He had every piece of paper on the car (even the new customer survey) and a perfect record of everything.

The car is white with a black interior. I posted a few days ago that I never liked white cars until I saw a white TT with black interior. Since then, I have changed my mind about white 993's. This car is stunning...even more so in the sun. The interior is super clean. The exterior is even better.

I bought the car at TruSpeed Motorcars down in OC. They were great to work with and delivered the car to my house yesterday. They brought the car over to Hergesheimer for the PPI on Tuesday. I was elated when the car checked out fine (thanks again Laura!).

Anyhow, I already e-mailed Steve W. for chip info and now need to get a new stereo (it has the CDR-210 w/ what could be the worst sounding stock speakers). Listening to the stereo in my expedition is an epiphany compared to this thing...

I am going to keep the cab for a bit and turn it into the track car/project car. The 97 replaces the 540, which was a bore to drive. I guess I need to change my moniker.

Here are some pics.

great car Mark! I spoke with Truespeed in OC a few times about a 993 when I was looking for one. He seemed really highly priced on all of his cars. Granted they were clean cars, at least they looked like good ones. I forget the guys name, but he was very helpful though.

I like white too. Rare in a 993, especially in socal. Good Job!

Come to papa! I'm loving your car! I saw a C2S at the Hershey Swap Meet last year for sale by Autohaus of Lancaster PA and it got ALOT of attention. It was perfect too. White cars are quite rare in my neck of the woods, Silver Spring MD, but there is one guy that's got a white 993 Turbo here in town and it is lust provoking, to say the least.

White to me is a more warm weather color 993. You are lucky to have found it. Mileage? Care to share what you paid for it - for sh*ts and giggles? Always curious how much people pay and what they are selling for this week! I'm sure I'm not the only one interested!

Congrats. I'm not a rear wing fan, but on your car it looks smokin' <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" /> .

Cheers,
Steve

I looked hard at that one too but $55K (supposedly best price) was too much for me.

Congratulations! It's a beauty!

Kim:

You too? I didn't realize you got rid of the bmw for EJ's car. Nice work!

Steve:

11k miles (looks like 1k miles)!

How much did I pay? 3 answers.

The Guys at TruSpeed: Not enough
My wife: TOO MUCH
Me: What I was comfortable with.

Actually, it was 55k, as Bill said. Frankly, I would have paid more for it. The car was perfect in my eyes. I too, am not a fan of Aerokits, but it seemed to "make" the car. It was rather odd how my opinions changed on numerous items when I looked at this car.

I am sure I could have found a cheaper car with a few scratches or rockchips, but I did not want that. This is not my first 993, so it wasn't an impulse buy. I was waiting for the right one. I said no to the TT's after 2 days a Buttonwillow and figuring out that there was no way in hell I needed a TT considering I perhaps used only a fraction of the car's potential.

Besides, I feel Rob and Brack (at TruSpeed) earned their keep due to the service they provided. They found the car, not me. They took care of the PPI by getting it to Herge, and they delivered the car to me. My time is worth $ to me, and that saved me a lot of time. I would gladly pay a slight (I still think I got the best deal) premium for that type of service.

Mark, you have a very nice car there. Barely broken in, cosmetically perfect, about $30K less than what it went out the door for, and what sounds like a painless purchase experience with a PPI done by a competent shop. Enjoy.

Congratulations. A beautiful car.

However, it's easy to make that white look even better.

Put a set of track numbers on it.

Are you keeping the cab? I love that color

Wow! Congrats Mark! I'm still in the process of getting new side mirrors (don't ask why its taking so long), but (hopefully) in about a week my car will be complete again and I'll organize an L.A. drive. Hope to see you and your latest 993 there!

Brooke:

An LA drive sounds great. What a pain with the mirror. That was too bad. Let me know. I will be there.

Mike:

Couldn't agree more. I was trying to imagine what color #'s would look best. I think I am going to go with red. I am going to wait a year before she sees the track as it is just too new. Yes, I am keeping the cab. That is the track car. The DAS rollbar should be here by the end of Feb. (just in time for Laguna Seca!), and the Evo2's go in right after that.

Kevin:

The car is indeed Glacier White. Stunning.

Terry:

"Enjoy". You have no idea!

Mark

You ought to hook up with Eric in Chicago

He's rapidly transforming a cab into a trackmeister as well.

Mark,

I am, admitedly, one of the "prices are plumenting" proponents. But, I must admit that I do not think you overpaid for that car. If so, not by very much. So rest assured that this stingy bastard thinks you did rather well.

I looked at some cars in Truspeed before buying my car, and they seemed like a good outfit to me. Glad to hear they took good care of you.

Mark, I am glad I don't have to keep your secret any more! LOL

In a couple weeks count me in on the LA drive!

I am so glad that a rennlister got that car, I have been nervous about some dweeb getting it and not knowing how special it was.

11,000 miles!!!!

Rock on
