OT: $5k off, such a deal!

A trip to local Porsche dealer to spend my $100 included a view of the latest (and not so latest) and greatest cars. The dealer has three 2002 Boxsters (yes, this is no typo) left over and they are advertised at $5K off retail price. With the 2004 cars due out soon enough, you have to wonder how bad things are for some dealers. According to my calculations, no matter how much warranty you get, the car has already lost at least another $5-10K before you drive it off the lot. I was told by the salesman, it was a good deal because the buyer will probably keep it for a while. Yea, right.

He's right. The (first) buyer (dealer) already kept it awhile.

Ouch! What area of the country is this? When I expressed even mild interest in a Boxster earlier this year, dollars were rolling off the sticker price before I could even get out the door....
