Default Parts Availability - RS

Folks,

Question: Are parts available in the US to maintain an RS? Say a car like this one: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1142373. Asking because of the fact that the cars were never imported to US. Can dealers source stuff for the 3.8 motor?

Asking for a friend.
Thanks,
Tim

I would image with so many aftermarket resources, even if the dealer was not allowed to get those parts, you could still get what you wanted to maintain it.

No, and historically you needed an RS VIN to even order them. That may have changed.

Default Most part numbers for 993RS seem to work

Yes most parts can be ordered from the US

Everything you could possibly need to maintain and repair this car can be ordered from or shipped to the US. There are some NLA body and suspension parts but that holds true for other air-cooled cars as well. So there really is no difference.

That was true 30-40 years ago, I tried to by some '73RS parts at that time and they did ask for the VIN. But it is no longer true, 1/2 the parts on my 993 are RS, RSR or Cup. I opened an account w/ Porsche Motorsport and all the RSR & Cup parts that are still available anywhere are available there. The all RS stuff is available through the usual US parts suppliers, Carnewal has also been very good to deal w/ as he packages complete kits for a given project, that cuts down on the search for all the little detail parts.

The blue one is a '95 US 2wd coupe, my other one started as a '76 RoW Carrera 3.0
