I grew up in Carmel. There has to be a lot of P-Car owners in that area who can check out in person. The Porsche dealer in Indianapolis is located right by as well. I can have my father-in-law check it out if you want. Not P-Car owner, more of VW enthusiast but he can take pics.
I just took a look at the car on their website. Just between friends; if that is what you are looking for, I would buy it before someone else does. Price seems fair to me given the condition.
PPI is on for Tuesday morning. Keep me in your thoughts
Sounds like you've done all the right things for a long-distance byt. My wife and I bought an 01 Boxster S two years ago, flying to FL after the PPI and driving 900 miles back home. I hope you have the same great experience!
I have never bought a car from Fabie, but about 18 months ago I visited his place and looked at and drove a handful of cars. He seems to me to be the real deal and one of the good ones. Unlike many (many!) of his ilk around the country, I have never (ever!) heard anything ill spoken about him. I also know a guy who lives 1500 miles from the shop and sent his car there for Fabie to sell on consignment, so that speaks something.
Like anywhere, get a solid PPI from a reputable shop that really knows the kind (air-cooled vs water-cooled, for example) of car you plan to buy and you should be fine.
I just bought a 964 from him that he is going to backdate for me. I think I got a very reasonable price based on the condition and mileage of the car. He has been awesome to work with so far and I did a forum search and found several great reviews about him before diving in. Hopefully we have more great reports about him to add in the future to the forum.
I bought my 993 from him in 2013, site unseen. Was a true professional. I had it PPI'd at my place of choice and he got the car there. We agreed that if the car did not represent as it was supposed to he'd either make it right or take it back at his cost. The car arrived and badly needed an alignment. He immediately agreed to pay for it at the Porsche Minneapolis dealership - I'd say my experience was absolutely awesome. I would not hesitate to work with him again.
Also- the PPI showed a couple minor issues- he took the cost off the top without a lot of negotiations. I got a great deal on this car and it's run super strong and looks like a show car.
