white 993 C4S advice

its worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. do you know how long its been on the lot. how many owners 18 miles is not to far for a PPI. if I am not mistaken you can't really go by paint thickness on cars pre 1998. From time to time they were resprayed at the factory and even when they came into port at the US. You can always go up in price after a low initial offer.
they want to sell it and you want to buy it.
pretty car. I bet it would look good in your garage!!!!

Here are a bunch of C2S/C4S sales from the last 18 months you can use as a guide. If the last 18 months are any indication, 85K-95K seems reasonable. Hard to tell from here where you should be in that range. Good luck.

Seeing as I got a 35k mile C4S for $91, this chart seems spot on to me.

PPI Shops fix'em but don't necessarily drive them much and have a different view as to what problems to mention.
For this reason, consider having a local Rennlister who owns a 993 test drive it for you if at all possible. Will identify engine, driveline and suspension issues PPI may miss or chose not to mention.

Let me put it this way.... 21+ years now, many wrecked, junked, need tons of work, High Milage, modded etc.... not many pristine low mile examples exist.
C2S = 3,714 Produced Worldwide and only 1,752 made it to US and Canada.
C4S = 6,948 Produced Worldwide and only 2,327 made it to US and Canada.
Turbo = 5,937 Produced Worldwide and only 1,909 made it to US and Canada.
By today’s standards that is nothing as far as production numbers!
From my experience.....If you find a nice car buy it. Don’t screw around or someone else will buy it. Doubt the seller will negotiate much on a excellent example.
I feel these cars are still under appreciated and have room to increase in value. Last of the Aircooled and mostly hand built cars. Only issue is many of the good Aircooled Mechanics are getting older and retired. 10 years from now servicing these cars will become more difficult finding qualified mechanics thus why Porsche has been instituting the Classic Program.

Red Line Services drove my PPI'd car and identified suspension issues and confirmed that engine was what it should have been. They provided extraordinarily detailed notes (that were a bit hard to read because they were handwritten, but ....). And they were generous with follow-up time on the phone, etc. I believe Sloan uses them, too, for any cars on the left coast they want inspected.
Before going with them, I, too, inquired on RL and got a bunch of places that would have been equally as good but I ruled them out for various reasons (distance, pre-existing relationship with the car, etc.).
Getting Chequered Flag to agree to a random (to them) RennFaxer to test drive the car ain't going to be easy, IMO.

I would have no problem offering a dealership $85k as it's all part of the process but probably not a private individual as people get tetchy and negotiations break down. Dealerships have seen it all and don't take things personally.
That being said, the problem is buying remotely and making lowball offers is the dealership can't smell the money about to walk out the door and sweeten the pot, even by a little bit to stop that from happening. They also know you're in the **** end of somewhere that doesn't have this car available or you wouldn't be phoning them so there's only so much they know they have to do
I was going to look at a white NB car in Palm Springs at one stage. If I ended up flying down there, I was going to just pose as a rando coming in off the street saying 'That's a pretty car, what is it?'.
Then again, they were looking for nearly $60k so it was more obviously overpriced IMO.
