Go with the Silver OM wheel -- the Gold looks too 1980's retro....

Good luck

For sure, go with the OM18's. As you said, they do look classic on 911's. Stick to silver as well...a much cleaner look, even on GP white.

While I really love the "Mesh" style wheels, they are just a real PITA to keep clean, at least for me.

I have the Fikse FM-10's and use the Griot's wire wheel brush, wool mitt and Griot's wheel cleaner. A quick spritz on all four wheels, a one minute wait, and I can clean each one in about a minute. I coated the tip of the wheel brush in Plasti-Dip to protect the wheels and calipers from scratching; you can just jam the brush in between the spokes, twist it around and have your wheels 98% clean.

My bolts are hidden on the inside of the wheel, so they're a little less fussy than the exposed bolt style. If I had to deal with the bolts, I would invest in an inexpensive ($175) pressure washer.

A five spoke wheel is probably a 20 second clean job, but, IMHO, the mesh style is worth the slightly extra effort.

OM, oh yes - that's my pick, and in silver of course. You wouldn't REALLY get those gold wheels, would you? If you do, be sure to buy a gold chain to go with them!

Here's the Trans am wheels for comparison...they only come on 1976 cars.

Here's the 1978 wheels...

Don't buy gold - it's a bad investment

I'll add one more thing to the gold wheel topic and say I don't often question gold wheels on a real race car, the same way I usually don't question a gaudy or outrageous paint scheme on a real race car.

i have a long history of "flaming chicken- Porsche hood" art work !!

last summer, someone was thinking about painting flames on his nice white turbo....so I showed him the "all-out" ultimate hood paint scheme..... I think the car is still all white
