Default opinions please

Looking for opinions from anyone who cares to share.

Thoughts on prior accident damage when looking for 993's.

- Given info up-front without asking.
- Documented repair work
- Done at Porsche dealer or certified Porsche
- Documented Porsche parts used.
- Extent of damage involved.

Obviously all things considered, car would have to pass PPI with
flying colors.

Also, thoughts on decrease in value for offering on such a
vehicle.

Thanks.

One question that I have to verify yet, forgot to ask. Receiving email tonight about car with photos. Owner is original owner.

The title issue is huge. I think it is difficult to evaluate value w/o that information. Would be nice to see before, during and after photos of repair work completed as well.

Forgot to mention that, if you have the VIN, you can go ahead and run a carfax right away. Of course you should do that anyway regardless of what the owner says. I found that carfax gave a bit more detail than autocheck.

assuming not a salvage title, i would not hesitate looking at the car. However, i would want to inspect the work personally. in other words i'd look for any misalignment, paint color match, orange peel, bondo lines, dust spots

if that turned up ok (meaning it was a real quality job) it wouldn't bother me.

Boris

If the title is clear...I would want some details of the type of damage. Pictures would be a good start then a look at the final invoice from the body shop detailing what was done and what was replaced. Then a very careful exam of the repair work by someone who knows body work and Porsches. If all checked out and the damage was not severe and the repair work top notch it wouldn't bother me. I would negotiate the price down from what I would pay if it hadn't been repaired because down the road you will suffer a hit when you go to resell the car.

If the title is clean and everything was done according Porsche (and they can show/prove it) I wouldn't mind looking at.

I would never ever pay the same price as similar car without accident though, no matter how well it is done & documented.

Thanks for the responses. Spoke with owner again, title is clean. Also gave me VIN#. Am going to find out if pictures available before/after accident.

Thanks again.

FWIW I'm hugely attracted to 1st owner purchases. Our palace was bought from the original Lord who bought in 1964.

I would steer clear of a Salvage Title (IMHO).
