Question Re-chip and Drive Block in ROW 993

May be someone out there can help.

I have a German LHD '94 993 that has the Drive Block that seems to be standard to all 993.

If I want to fit a new alarm system to the car, how do I remove the Drive Block? Do I have to re-program the chip? Could I do it at the same time as when I have it re-chiped?

I'm a bit confused because I'm not sure if the Drive Block is programmed into the ECU chip that people replace/reprogram.

My impression is that the drive block can be disabled by the chip when a new one is installed. Your best bet for a clear, concise (and correct) answer is to talk to or email Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems.

I would say that the drive block can definitely be de-programmed. Especially considering that I'm driving around with a '91 C2 w/'97 993 engine. Actually, as the engine was being installed in my car, I took the 993 "brain" over to Protomotive for drive block removal. Performance software was added at the same time.
