Post Bay Area TPC installs???

Hi, I am looking for anyone in the Bay Area that has the TPC kit installed. Where did you have it installed? Any installation "issues."

Thanks,
-Tony

Me too. I'd very much like to see one and even experience it if possible. The other question I have is how does smog work. Because TPC doesn't have a CARB Number.

Cheers,
Boris

The supercharged cars should pass emmission part of CA smog. The problem tho is the "visual" inspection Ca requires.

I have installed the kit on my fathers 97 C4S. I am a fairly experienced mechanic and have had MAJOR problems with the install of the kit. The kit is NOT CA smog legal, so we will have to "deal" with this in the future. Currently the car has 9 OBDII faults, down from 17 when I first got the car running. The instructions, if you want to call them that are a joke. I work in the industry and have written instuctions for turbo kits. Having 1.5 pages for 20, well actually 50+, hours of work is a little brief. I am just looking to see if anyone in the bay area has successfully installed the kit, other than sending the car to TPC.

Thanks,
-Tony

I can't be certain but I recall Carrera Motors in San Mateo (650-342-9955) installing an SC on a '95 993 Cab (i.e. OBD-I) a while back. I don't know who made the SC kit but I'm not aware of any other supplier other than TPC so I'm guessing it might be them

It might be worth giving Carrera Motors a call.

Karl.

The Racers Group is an authorized installer in the Bay Area and has installed several of them with no problems, according to them. I'm sorry I cannot remember who I talked with up there.

For what it is worth, I called TPC about their kits and told them I was going to buy a car specifically to put the supercharger on. They recommended a '95, presumably for the OBDI. (They also recommended a C4!) They said I should be able to install it in 18 - 20 hours. I guess install and getting it to work are two different things <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
