Anyone know of a good, honest shop up in that area?

I have also heard that Squire in Bellevue is very good. No affiliation and I have not used them, just heard it through the Audi Grapevine.

If you have a car that needs to be brought somewhere or a walk around, let me know and I will help if I can.

Squire's Autowerke
1515 134th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98005
Phone: (425) 641-3212

Randy, I have had work done on my p-car at
Chris@ Chris's German Auto Service
1503 130th Ave. NE
Bellevue, (425) 462-9296
I would recommend them as they came highly recommened by several PCA people in the know before I had any experience. If you need the body/paint looked at I would recommend:
Mark@ Eurotech Bodywerkes
Kirkland (425) 823-4282
Both are great shops and very knowledgable in their fields. No affilation with either. If its a car I can look at in the area I would be glad to help.

What are you looking at up here? Dealer or private?

Private. I'm shying away from dealers. They dont really care about the cars they are trying to sell and they are asking too much. The car in question is a 98 C4S. Dont know much about it yet.

If you want a shop closed to downtown Seattle, then I have had good luck at Gerber Motorsport (http://www.gerbermotorsport.com/).

Aker's (on Broadway near Capitol Hill) is also a good shop. I take my car there for its annual service.

I also used John Walker for an alternator replacement last year and he did a good job. Pretty funky shop, too, but then what would you expect from the area!

John Walker is an outstanding Porsche mechanic. I have been doing business with him for 14 years. He leans towards the earlier cars, ie. 89 and earlier, which is his forte (especially 930s). He once changed out a set of wheel bearings that failed on my way out of Seattle headed for Tampa... on a Saturday!

However, later cars might be better suited to a larger shop with all the bells and whistles. Akers is highly recommended, although I have no experience with them.

I have had mixed results with Barrier. They are not nearly as knowledgeable about 993s as they should be.

Best of luck.
Regards,
Tom F.

Thanks guys. Crossing my fingers on this one in Seattle. I'm looking for a car on the west coast. One that I can drive back home. Now I have recommended PPI shops in Seattle, Bay Area and LA. I'm confident that I'll find one over on the left coast. Thanks for all of your help.

Red face

AVOID BARRIER AT ALL COSTS! THEY SUCK!

(Don't ask me how I know. It's a long, sad story, but I will never do any kind of business with them again.)

I completely agree with the suggestions here:

Barrier - Avoid. They are problematic at best for both Porsche and Audi's.
John Walker's - Very good.
Squire's - Very good.

Good luck with your purchase.
