Default Yet another Vram converion

Inspired by several threads on this forum. As the engine is out and a manifold came up I took the plunge. Just a few questions:-
1. How is the egg box attached to the inner wing? Riv stud or riv nut?
2. Good idea to fit a catch can? The old manifold was very oily.
I just had to paint the logo. Trial fit to check out vac line routing and electrical connections. Ignore the dizzy vent tube, I just parked it there.

Looks good, you are lucky to get one with Vario ram on it. There are kits to rebuild the servos to insure no dripping oil and a good vacuume seal.
Not sure how the “egg box is attached.

Can you please advise where the servo rebuild kits are sourced from?

i was thinking of the recliner post but it was for the A/C servo. Searched a bit and found this thread about sourcing the round seal for the varioram servo. Hop it helps. It is on my list of items to do when I retire.

I used a rivnut. There is no way to access the back side so it has to be a rivnut.

I've replaced the resonance flap seal and gasket as they were showing signs of leakage. The catch can seems a good idea so I ordered on of these https://www.mishimoto.co.uk/automoti...SAAEgLFbfD_BwE
A rivnut it will be

What is this, where does it go and for what purpose does it function?
Enquiring minds want to know,

The catch can (also known as an air/oil seperator) traps oil mist from the oil tank to post-butterfly vent tube. If youv'e done plenty of miles the inlet manifold with have a generous coating of oil. In Non-Vram and the resonance flap seals and worse in Vram the gasket can leak oil all over the shroud and will get sucked through the engine fan to be deposited over the top of the engine. The blow by gases will still pass through to reduce environmental pollution but any fine oil droplets are trapped. Depending on the size of the can it may save clouds of smoke from the exhaust if you overfill. Oil mist reduces the octane rating of fuel so the engine runs better. It's a compusory fitment to race cars but they will use big catch cans and vent to atmosphere. Some oil mist will still get through as there is another vent tube pre-butterfly so your Vram sliders will still get oiled.
Most cars will have some kind of oil/air seperator, the oil tank on a 993 does this to some degree.

My non-Varioram engine approves of your Varioram engine’s belt choice:

Swapping pulleys was a bear. What a nice clean engine. May I suggest this for the fan pulley nut? It's a genuine Porsche part. Part #: 911-603-127-01-OEM
