Post Max tyre sizes on 17" Cups

What rubber can I safely get on my 17" cups front and rear. My current set up is 225 front and 255 rear SO2's.

I have RIGHT NOW on my 17x7 245/45 and 17x9 275/40 Kumhos Victoracer.
The front wheel/tire IS a tight fit and looks kind of weir. but NO RUBBING with lowerd PSS-9 on narrow body car.

KC
Do you find the wider 245/45 fronts result in a larger turning circle? Not a real concern on a track, but important for street driving/parking.

I use 225 and 275 Hoosier at the track. Work great with only minimal rubbing at the rear inside. Cant even notice it until you take the wheels off and see a little mark. No concerns though.

You have the perfect combo. 205's in front are too skinny, but 225's and 255's are ideal for the narrow body. I has these sizes on my factory 17"s and car is very neutral (on track and off).

Unless you get wider rims, I wouldn't mess with this pefectly balanced setup. Just my humble opinion

Doesn’t that setup push? 225/255 is supposed to be pretty neutral... I’m considering 225/265 next time I have to get four tires.

Hmmm...just half to jump in here. I've got a set of 225/255 17" Kumho Victoracers I'd like to sell if anyone's interested. They have 4 autocrosses on them and one (easy) track day. Lots of rubber left. They were originally heat cycled from Tire Rack before mounting. For sale for say.....$250. Less then half price!

Anyway, had to get that in there. I think the tires are the best bang for the buck. As far as balance is concerned. It seemed to work for me. The back end was still loose enough to be able to toss the car around. But if you want ultimate performance, Hoosiers might be better (and even better then that, a good driving school:-). I'm selling because I'd like to upgrade tire size.

I can be reached at jspaulding@paccar.com if interested.

Actually Tom, it is very neutral. But remember a point that does not get mentioned much here is that the same car can feel different two two different drivers, even if nothing is changed. What feels neutral to me, might be a push to you. I will say that in slower, longer radius corners, I do have to tap the brakes with the left foot to tuck in the front end sometimes. But in all the other corners, it is neutral, with some power on or lift throttle oversteer. It is very stable on the fast corners with the back end firmly planted. But of course, I can hang the back end out at will too. Also remember that I have the special 030 100k mile suspension option.

YMMV!
