I had this same issue in the Spring 2018 when I had my 993 oil change performed. I checked the oil level several times via the dip stick. It was at the 90% full level in my opinion. My very reputable indie shop assured me all was well. As I put on the miles and burned off some of the oil, the gauge reading eventually reverted back to routine normal readings.

JMHO, but next time, I'd tell your shop to get it at mid-point or you'll find another shop.
