Question 95-993 Antilock Warning Light

My Antilock warning light would go on and off intermittently for awhile. It now lights up consistently after I put it in gear and move 10ft ahead and remains on until I turn
the care off. I checked the brake fluid levels and all is good there. I messed with the float to insure it was not stuck. I have a OPD2 tester which is no good on this model.
Any ideas before I go out and invest in an OPD1 tester.

Thanks in advance

Rob,
Best case scenario is to list your location in your avatar box and perhaps a rennlister with a Porsche specific diagnostic tester can check your abs system.

Do you have any records as to the last brake & clutch fluid flush? When flushing, it is important to exercise the anti-lock brake system to purge the old brake fluid, otherwise, the Dot 4 fluid when aged will build up waxy clumps, which can eventually clog and render useless, the ABS.

If you are in the SoCal area, I can help you out with the use of my PIWIS.
BTW, its an OBD l, On Board Diagnostics.

probably a loose speed sensor.
the rear sensors are mounted horizontally, if the mounting screw is loose the sensor can back out and produce a warning light.

I had this problem on two separate occasions, I replaced the relays under the cover on the passenger's side wall in the frunk. The problem went away, go figure?

Same syptoms caused by a failed speed sensor located by diagnostic, that was the easy bit. Getting the old sensor out was a struggle.

I also have the intermittent ABS light, I just do an Italian tune up and drive the car hard and it disappears. I'm sure my speed sensor will need replacing soon, but its much more fun to do it this way.

That's the first light to go on when your battery voltage drops too low so you might quickly rule that out.

What is the origin of "frunk?"

I second gtroth's suggestion. My '97 had this symptom. Cleaning the battery terminals fixed it.

Funny. So it acts as an adjective to describe the location of the trunk. Ie: front trunk. I never saw a rear trunk on a 993 model.. I've seen "frunk" repeatedly in our forum. Anyone know who started "frunk?"
