Default heater bypass pipe question

i'm considering the heater bypass pipe on my car. In trying to decide whether or not to do it - so a couple of questions come to mind.

1. by removing the blower motor do you sacrifice the fan functionality on your dashboard or is that a separate motor?

2. do you get any fumes into the cabin that you otherwise wouldn't

3. how much worse is the heat and how would you describe the difference?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Boris

Thanks Phil - you talked me out of it. I've been contemplating upgrades/ weight savings to my car and I think I'm at a dead end. Can't think of anything more to do. hmmm. scarey. well of course i can think of somethings (thanks Danny for the 3.8 review) - but i'm not there yet. I'll wait and see how this upcoming season turns out before spending a small fortune.

Cheers,
Boris

Boris. Just say no to any more mods. Luckily I'm in a 'lower' autocross class now - Mp - and we won't be competing .

I've installed the pipe in my 964. First time we get together you can see what it's like. The weight savings is about 5 lbs.

Tom, if i recall correctly on a 964 the weight savings is more like 12-15lbs. On the 993 it is more like 5-7lbs - just what i remember reading but i have no personal experience.

cheers,
boris

oh and tom - btw, we will likely be competing on the new point based system. this year they will run both the traditional classes and the point based approach. they year following is planned to be point based solely, but that is subject to how things go this year.

Are you asking about the heater blower or the fan when the AC is on?

If You live in cold or wet climate -- don't do it. Car windows are often foggy inside, always after carwash. I had to use by-pass because of TPC. Next summer I'll install modified blower -- seen week ago here in Rennlist.

For extra engine cooling, the rear blower fan is also automatically turned on when the air temperature inside the duct reaches 104F/40C even if the car is turned off.

No, i don't have one for sale. i thought i'd ask a couple questions before buying it and then having to sell it.

i decided against the rs resevoir in my car, simply because it only shaved 3lbs of weight. To keep the plumbing the same as stock i would go ahead and keep the 3lbs. now if someone made on that would fit in the same location but was smaller then I'd go 4 it. Robert Linton - are you listening?

Cheers,
Boris

Damn! Based on your previous deals (buy first, then ask) I though you had extra laying around now...

i think my projects are nearing an end - and i have to stablize my car for the upcoming season. that means buckle down and tune rather than modify.
