stalling and starting issues with '95 C2

Doug- moisture can easily explain stumbling/stalling, but I have a hard time connecting it to over revving/hunting. Then again, last time I worked on cars, troubleshooting consisted of checking for fuel, spark and air. I had an old MGB that never started in the fog. Turned out to be a hairline crack in the ignition coil. I’d try to establish a correlation between the problem and wet/damp conditions. Cheap to do.

No definitive ID yet. Despite all of the good suggestions, I am thinking it may have been gunk in the fuel line or something like it. Fuel filter was changed in August, but who knows what gunk existed in the tank. The reasons I conclude this are (1) on my way home on the drive in which this all happened, there was a moment it felt like something cleared somewhere and car began behaving more normally (but I was never certain of this), and (2) in my few drives since then, the original issues were no where to be seen, heard, or found.
I doubt I am fully out of the woods and I would not be surprised to see it reappear, but right now I feel like I am chasing ghosts.
Based upon many of the comments, I am pretty sure it is not a faulty DME relay.
I appreciate all the ideas and will follow up when I have more definitive info.
Thanks so much.

My money is on the crank sensor. On the 993 it would not start when hot, cool for 2 hrs it would fire up run for 15 mins and die again. On the 944 bad hot starts and occasional misfire. Both cured after crank sensor replacement.
