Default Before & After Pics of 96' C4S RoW M030/Bilstein HD Install

Ok...let's hope I did this correctly. Being a relative newbie, I am still learning the posting ropes.

There should be two pics..before and after the install.

Let me just say, my service level experience with Gert @ Carnewal and my P-Car dealer here in Richmond were simply remarkable.

We had a last minute concern on the rear install and Gert came thru out of the blue with a 5 minute turn around time on our question. This was at 7am mind you !!!!!

Needless to say, the car is transformed. Anyone who has used this setup, clearly, knows what I am talking about.

Porsche ad execs hit the nail on the head.....THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE.

If by chance...I botched this pic post up...I will resend individually.

Measurements, if anyone is interested, surprised me a bit...but here they arefrom ground surface to center of fender lip)

B4 install F 26 7/8 26 5/8
R 26 1/8 25 7/8

After F 25 7/8 25 5/8
R 25 7/8 25 5/8

Apparently, with differences in fender imperfections, each side does not match.
Front dropped an even inch....Rear dropped .25inch......with an even rake.

I love that color. My first car was a 66 Mustang, just that color.

Looks really nice! I will be doing the Bilstein HD/H&R combo in the next month. Still waiting for my parts though.

Keith,

Wat about ride quality and handling? Are you satisfied with what you did?

Did you corner balance it? If your dealer did a true alignement he would have put your weight in the driver's side which actually accounts for a difference from left to right. With you in the car it should be different measurements all around unless you are featherweight. For true height measurement you should have the car on a flat surface , perferably on the alignement rack and measure under the car to the "ground" . Also dont forget that the suspension will settle in the coming week so your car is going to drop abit.

BTW you did spend your money well and your car looks awesome!

Holy cow, that's MUCH better. The 993 is one of the most gorgeous cars on earth in any form, but it's unbelievable how much better these cars look when brought to the proper height.

Congrats and I know what you mean by transformation. I was absolutely amazed when I did mine too. Enjoy the new car and driving experience.

Since I'm in NOVA, maybe we will meet up at a PCA event sometime soon.

Keith:

Will you please say a little about the ride comfort with Bilstein HD+M030? Thanks.

Regards to all.

Some of you have asked for comments on ride quality, handling, etc.....

The car is much more responsive in a way that builds confidence while driving it. I know I don't have the driving skills to take this thing to its full potential, but, I can go much deeper into a corner and it feels tighter and stuck to the ground moreso than before.

I WILL say it is stiff over bumps and road undulations, but not bone jarring stiff. Highway driving seems to be smoother in fact.

The car has taken on more of an exact and direct feel to it...point it in turn and it is THERE !! Without question, the car is easier to drive at higher speeds and although I know it is psychological Horsepower....it definately feels faster !!!!

Keep in mind this installation came in at 52k on the odometer. So for the last 5k miles...the previous suspension was shot...I mean the car rolled and dipped and was just awful to drive.

I am overwhelmingly delighted with the results.

I did not get a corner balance done when the alignment was completed. Maybe I should have, but I don't think I would be able to notice any difference in the way the car handled afterwards.

Total cost....roughly $2100.....$700 for install and alignment + $1400 for Suspension Setup.

Next project for the MOD-SQUAD........RIMS....Kinesis Supercups or in the lead for choice.

Best Regards,
Keith
