Older Porsche 911 took the standard SAE, DOT approved unitized glass bulbs. Because the bulb shape was standardized for many years and many makes an entire lamp conversion has been made available from several sources for years. They even make them for motorcycles. I believe even Porsche made such a thing for the last few years of the Carrera in the 80's where the stock OE glass lamp was replaced by a reflector that a halogen bulb was plugged into from the rear of the reflector's housing. For the 993 one can replace the halogen bulb with a XENION lamp or I believe a LED lamp. There is an aftermarket supplier that offers a replacement lens system to replace and upgrade the OE guts of the stock lamp pod, however, I do not know of anyone who makes complete lamp pods of a different design than the OE part.

I fitted this kit https://www.theretrofitsource.com/mo...rsche-993.html with Tore B's hid kit and a Cyclops led main. Good write up on here somewhere, results were dazzling.

I don't get the attraction to the LSD pupils dilated eyes bugging out headlight look. Atrociously ugly. The 993 fluted lenses are aesthetically perfect for the car.

Ha! Totally agree with this assessment. Rennline now carries the LED replacements for the 964's at the half the price, and they look proper with classic fluted lenses.

The 993's have it good. As noted, BergvillFX has a quick and easy HID kit that costs on;y $110 with Rennlist discount. https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php...-discount.html

Ultimate performance from the original housing https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...what-took.html. I didn't use the full kit just the Morimotos and brackets The bulbs were from ToreB hid kit and the leds for the main need a bit of internal trimming to fit. I know Marty Feldman made his bug eyes pay but I agree the original design on the 993 looks better.I liked the Morimotos so much I converted the 944 to them not so easy but a great improvement over the originals.

Seems to offer upgrades to the old SAE/DOT bulbs only.

The kit seems to require the ballast to be external to the pod. I can see this for an OE HID to aftermarket HID conversion. For an OE halogen to aftermarket HID conversion, the ballast should fit inside the headlight pod w/o any external modifications.

I added this kit to ToreB's HID kit so the ballast is within the light pod. Easy mod.

I went the same route, but added the High beam splitter to the Retrofit kit. That allows both the bi-xenon HID, and LED hi beam to both be active. Utilized Tore-B HID’s, and the Cyclops LED bulb for the high beam as noted. Very straightforward install, and an absolutely HUGE improvement. The Morimoto Bi-xenon’s have a super crisp beam patten/cutoff.

Also Installed a full Tore-B exterior LED kit, with additional brake lights in the Euro fog positions.

Attempted to add a picture, but rennlist is acting very strange this morning.
