Dave,

I thought the Sale of Goods Act referred to "fitness for purpose" - in other words you can still drive your car and in any case how old is the car? I might be wrong on the interpretation but I suspect you won't get very far as the car isn't a new car.

My driver's side rear has it too. The Stealer says it is not covered under the rust warranty, as it's not part of the bodywork.

This takes me back - January and November 2002! I had bad bubbling on the lower edge trims for the glass which I had stripped and resprayed when I had my paintwork done. I have a little bit of bubbling on the other trim and eventually I'll get this done though given that it's not steel I'm not too worried...

Ditto!

Any ideas if this can be fixed, or do we need new bits of aluminium or have them treated in some way?!

I bought my 1995 C2 knowing about this issue, but planning on getting it seen to at some point.

I think it's just a case of getting it stripped down, cleaned up and re-sprayed or maybe even anodised? That or an expensive trip to the local stealer.

Cheers,

David

4 years ago I had a "frosting" type appearance on the black part of the glass where the radio aerial goes into the screen. I pointed it out to the service manager at my OPC (who are my car's maintainers) and he confirmed it as delamination of the glass, which is a Warrant Of Fitness failure here in NZ. Windshield replaced free of charge. Known problem, sorted quickly and no questions asked.
Good job Porsche
Recently discovered some bubbling in paint along undersurface of driver's door. Local Porsche approved paint and panel shop looked and agreed it looked like rust (in my baby!!). Off to my OPC, same service manager looks and agrees. 10 year corrosion warantee expires in October. Paperwork sent off to Porsche Importer, and now I'm waiting to hear what happens next. I'll be disappointed if they don't cover repair.
Watch this space.
