Thumbs up PSS9 kit lowers your door handles, too...

After 5 weeks of watching the parts build up on my garage floor I finally had my install this week - PSS9 kit, M030 sways and a Gert bar...

I must say it's like driving an entirely different car - the performance is absolutely transformed. The front end "floatiness" is all gone, steering is much more responsive (lane changes are immediate,) the car is much flatter in corners and I say the overall impression is that the car is now "on rails."

I'm starting out with the PSS9s set on 9/9 - full soft, but agree with others here that the setting is definitely firmer than the stock setup. Ride height was set to about 5mm above RS height, a bit lower than ROW.

What I was not prepared for, though, was the extent of the visual transformation of the car. All photos of lowered 993s show, and just about everyone agrees that lowering your car makes it look much better. But when it's your car and you walk up to it or around it or go to get in it - I mean*everything* is lower - door handles, mirrors, roof line, headlights, badges, etc. and when you open the door you notice that the drivers seat is "way down there!" It's visually satisfying, even awesome, in just about every concievable way and, at least to me, worth every last cent.

Thanks to everyone here I was prepared and dealt with Bilstein parts/quality issues ahead of time and the install went off without incident. Rennlist is such an incredible resource!

Here are before and after photos, taken six weeks apart, in the same spot at the same time of day. No Photoshop job, just an attempt to accurately show the difference.

"Before" - aka SUV...

"After" - aahhh, that's better...

Default Me too

Looks great! I just ordered virtually the same parts (TRG bars instead) and was focusing on how much I spent. Your post was exactly what I need to get back to thinking about how great this modification is going to be!!

Hi Joe and Jim,

I am getting ready to put P SS9s on my 964, and think I may go w/ the TRGs. Where did you get your work done? I am extremely happy w/ the knowledge and service at ASG. The best shop I have ever dealt with.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim (Forklift), I'm going to take a stab at DIY. Of course, my parts won't be here for another couple of weeks and I'm not going to spend the requisite hours out in the carport until it warms up a reasonable amount.

Great and inspiring. I might take a stab at the PSS9 myself.

JMc,

Yes, indeed, your car looks great! And I agree with you on your feelings when it's YOUR car. Before my change, I simply "liked" how others' lowered cars looked. Now that MINE is down there, I can't stop looking at it! Sure I'd look at it with admiration before when I had parked it or approached it. But now, I honestly can't stop staring at it. Somehow it looks more muscular yet stealthy, like a prowling lion haunched down before it leaps. "Transformed," both in ride quality and aesthetics, truly is the appropriate word! Enjoy!

JMc, Congrats on the new equipment. The car does look great. I have been thinking of doing something as well. Did you start with the sport suspension or the softer standard one? Also, what pushed you to the PSS9s instead of the Bilstein HD setup?

Also, I live in NoVa as well and wanted to check into ASG. What is the full name of the shop? Where are they located? Has anyone ever heard of Intersport in Tysons? Any thoughts on those guys?

Hi JohnG,

ASG's website is: http://www.autosportsystems.com/home.html . I have dealt with several Porshce shops in NOVA (but not Intersport), and ASG is the clear winner in expertise and service. IMO
