Default New Wheels

Felt it was my duty to share this among fellow gear heads. The chrome just had to go... To me it looks 1000% better...

Tour,

Looks much better. BTW, what is that low-slung black car in the background and off to the side?

Much, much better. I don't like chrome wheels. They look too "pimpish".

That's an old Mirage I bought at a swap meet. It's just a shell. And I cut everthing else out of it with bolt cutters just make sure I didn't slap it back together and drive it.

Sorry guys, have to disagree.

And as for too "pimpish" - I resemble that remark.

Thanks everyone. I was really debating what to do. But I've got two sets of Gotti modulars hanging on the wall from previous rides, so I decided to get something I didn't have mega dollars in...

Greg H, I saw a white '04 996TT with polished wheels at the dealership when I was replacing my chrome. It looked so good I felt kind of silly because my car was inside getting the redo.

I think what I didn't like was the chrome on black. The chrome just grabbed the eye. On the white, the shine is fine. IMHO...

Poorb0yw, Flower Mound is between Ft.Worth and Dallas. From my upstairs balcony, you can see Texas Motor Speedway in the distance.

Thank you for switching those wheels out! Hip hip, hoooray! By the way, how did you feel, driving around w/ those chromed wheels? You don't see many of them in this area (though my wife has them on her XK8). I definitely prefer the non chromed look for your car, but to each his own. Do you "feel" different driving the car one way (w/chrome), and now the other way? Did your attitude shift at all? Was there any pschological difference in your spirit?

Wondering about the silliest things sometimes,
Steve

Steve 96C4S, here's the Freudian lowdown. I was acutely conscious that the very nature of this beast had been somehow castrated with the chrome wheels. And I felt ebarrassed that someone might think I, the guy driving, did it... Not to mention it wasn't a good chrome job.

The new wheels are 0 mile takeoffs from an 04 996TT. Michelins. The car drives totally different than with the S02s. Totally.

I figured there was a psychological aspect of driving it the way it was, and with the new wheels. Great going. They look awesome.

Can you believe we even talk about things like car's wheels? My wife thinks I'm a fruit in this regard

Cheers,
Steve
