John, I had the same problem that you had. You live in CA like I do. I solved it by choosing the time of: (GMT-3:00hrs.) Brazil, . . .
Although this is odd, it does set your time correctly.

same thing I did. just choose the right time zone that gives you your time, not your time zone.
