To the left side of the engine compartment of my car, there's a white sticker with a big red "WARNING" written on it about the car being equipped with an "REI Remote Start System." It warns of the possibility of the car starting by itself if the battery is disconnected and reconnected.

Does anyone know what this remote start system is and how it functions? The guy I bought the car from mentioned something about remote start in passing at some point but I didn't press him for details and now he's a faint memory (changed his number!).

Any clues?

OK, since no one else was able to help...I found the email address for the guy who sold me the car...I asked him, and he replied that the remote start is part of the alarm system - you unlock the car and then press both the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously, and voila! the engine starts by itself.

Very cool - but fairly useless really!
