I installed my aluminum ebrake today. Im having a bit of the problem. The switch on the back that detects whether or not the ebrake is engaged or not doesnt seem to make contact. In my car thats actually a big problem because my top wont go up or down without that switch.
There is some adjustment on the switch (i would describe it as an arc shaped adjustment), but it's not the arc shape it is just too far away. I tried to bend the ebrake side to be a bit closer but no dice. I attached some pics so you can take a peak for yourself. Any ideas????
In this second one i put the original ebrake handle next to the new one.
It looks like you already have the beginning of the problem I had as the copper contact appears to be torn near it's attachment to the handle. Be very gentle when reshaping because once creased and torn the piece will break completely off very easily.
I had this same problem with my aluminum ebrake and when I attempted to bend the contact, I almost tore it off, but I was able to save it by soldering it.
boris i have a cab and had the same exact problem -- i fiddled with it by bending the metal and broke part of it off but the contact seems to still be ok with the break pulled completely up.
