Default 993 replacement remote

It looks like one of my remotes has gone bad. Replacing the battery has not helped. Are there any online sites that I can purchase a replacement from? A quick google did not turn up anything.

Thanks.

Carnewal

Or, your local Porsche dealer.

I thought of Gert right after I posted. Gert has an email from me waiting. Not to state the obvious but I am not willing to pay dealer prices unless there is a good reason to do so.

Mark,
Unfortunately in this case Gert's price is going to be very close to what you will pay at the dealer.

As usual Gert responds. Unfortunately for me the price of a replacement remote is 95 euro. Acck. Just what I wanted to avoid.

Mark,
95 Euros sounds very high to me. I'm looking at Gert's site:
Electronics --> Switchblade key conversion kit
and it is showing 33 Euros.

Isn't this the item you are looking for?

I mean I thought the dealer charged around $40 for this item, which is close to 33 Euro not 95 Euro. Plus no waiting/shipping if you go to a dealer. I would give a Porsche dealer a call and see what's up.

$40 is for the conversion parts, without electronics. It sounds like markn needs the electronic part of the remote, hence the big price.

These show up on ebay every once in a awhile, and sell for $80-$100 if I remember correctly.

There is a bit of a learning curve to program remotes (you have to do all of them at the same time, not just the replacement). I love e-bay, but this is not the sort of part I would buy on e-bay. I would question why it is on e-bay to begin with.

My remote is for a 1995. I am pretty sure it will not work on your 1997.
