PSS-9 settings and tire pressures for bumpy low grip surface
#16
Nol, with 245 & 285 the balance has moved towards oversteer (from understeer), but I don't know yet what the balance will be in track use - I reckon it will be pretty neutral but time will tell.
Re hot pressures, with 225 & 285 I aimed for 34-36F and 38-40R. For road use I am running the 245 F much lower than I ran the 225, typ 29 - I've yet to find out what works at the track for that tyre.
Have fun at the track!

Thanks John, overall feedback is pretty consistent on the tires. And sure we'll be having fun, but I would love to take the car to a proper track though. To live in the UK your are spoiled for choice by comparison.
Odd how for increased rear tire section the pressures seem to end up higher where up front the wider section gets lower pressure. For comparison, in a bike tire wider section equates to lower pressures too. I'd guess this is quirky because of the 911 rear weight bias and oversteer drama that was associated with it.
One more point, do you run with a full tank of gas for weigth over the front wheels on the C4? or are you in the "empty tank is faster acceleration" camp?
Enjoy

Nol, on large tracks I have had some of my fastest times with a fairly full tank of gas. On an auto-x track the weight is such as handicap since you are having to accelerate and stop so much. I would vote for you to have a low fuel level.

I fill the tank up before first going out, but then I run all day, typically 20-30 minute stints with 20-30 minute breaks between them, so I get through two full tanks in a day anyway
