Thumbs up Great guys at Sunset Imports.....

Since I was in Portland for the CART race, I thought I would stop by and finally meet the parts guys (Jeff and Bob) at Sunset Imports in Beaverton. Also, I used my $100 gift cert. from Porsche for a pair of front rotors and a few other misc. items. I figured I would save some bucks on shipping as well.

I got to meet Jeff, but not Bob as he was at lunch. Their dealership is really nice as well.

I've also been pleased with Sunset. For example, they're great about helping me hunt down cheap little "knickknacks," like the correct snaps to fit the carpet in my trunk. They're not making money worth mentioning on these parts, but they know it's important to me.

Sunset Porsche's cost + 15% discount makes P-car ownership just a little less scary, knowing you can get a significant discount on any Porsche part. Other dealers and independents occasionally match (or even beat) Sunset's prices, or offer a less expensive after-market alternative. But, as I said, it's comforting to know you can always get any Porsche part for just a bit over dealer cost.

I haven't been able to find a single dealer that has better prices than Sunset in the past 2 years. And with service from Jeff, I won't switch (if I can find one) to save a few bucks. Like Randall mentioned, " it's comforting to know you can always get any Porsche part for just a bit over dealer cost. "

Not only are there prices good , they don't try and gouge you on shipping. They keep my billing info on file and whenever I need anything (large or small) I just zip 'em an email. <img border="0" alt="[king]" title="" src="graemlins/r.gif" />

Cheers

Lucky you! In Oregon and Washington they don't offer $+15%. I guess you get the discount on our backs? They have however taken the PCA discounts which is nice for Oregon residents. I have been going to this dealership for years. The true hero at Sunset is Tim Haburn in parts. I wish I could say the same about the sales staff. Seems that certain demeanor and ego is common among Porsche/Audi dealerships.

It all most sounds like shameless self promotion here...

??? Self promotion is when you pat your _own_ back...

For what it's worth, I have no financial interest in Sunset, but I too am impressed with their prices & service; several months ago they tracked down some part numbers for some plastic trim pieces that I thought were going to be hideously expensive, and they gave me the part numbers, the price I should expect to pay, and encouraged me to obtain them from a local dealer to avoid unnecessary shipping costs. They didn't make a penny off of me, but spent the time to research the parts and take care of my problem. (Their price was lower, but not enough to make up the shipping cost)

For that kind of attitude (all too rare these days), I think they _deserve_ a pat on the back... It's very pleasant not to get gouged.

I concur! Jeff was outstanding to deal with. My experience with ordering parts from Brumos last year was a royal PITA and they literally just threw the parts in a box and mailed it.

Jeff and Sunset were very patient with me with great follow up and *no* suprises, even though I kept adding obscure littel parts to the order every time he turned around...

These guys aren't Rennlist sponsors, so I won't talk about the numerous times I have used them to save lots of money. Although, it seems like they gave me a Rennlist discount. Maybe it was a PCA discount. Or maybe they were quoting list price vs their normal price. I don't know - I never bother checking with the local dealer for parts. The local dealer made the mistake of sending me a survey recently. I didn't hold back. Actually, Gert's prices are better than Sunset's - I don't know how he does it. But dealing with DHL can be a pain in the ***.

I recently needed a long list of parts for my 944.

From my local dealer, got a price quote of $995.

From Sunset, SAME parts were $360.

I applied the $100 PCA coupon and viola! Got the parts for $260 plus $10 shipping.

Jeff was great to deal with...turned around the order very quickly.

Sunset rocks!

I have used sunset a few times and have always been pleased. Price is right, and no tax, what else can you ask for.
