Default PPI Recommendation San Diego

Looking at a car at the authorized dealer on Miramar. Who would you recommend?

Also, is anyone nearby that could take a look for me?

Thanks

Jae Lee at Mirage is the best, and is in Miramar.

I've used both Black Forest and Jae Lee at Mirage.
Both execellent but Jae Lee is the logical choice since his shop is on Miramar Road.
I could take a look for you as well if needed. Shoot me a PM.

@Shark: We have Porsche restoration tech in San Diego who would travel out to the car for a full PPI. Let us know if we can help. Thanks!

Which car are you looking at? I may have already seen it if it is the showroom

I WAS looking at a Arena Red 993 Turbo....but their refusal to provide even basic information put me off.....has to be the only dealer I've ever seen that does not have a camera that can take better quality pictures than an I-phone 3 and is either too lazy or dumb enough to not know how to pull option codes. I had a Porsche expert here in Houston (Ray Joseph, great guy) ready to look over some high quality pictures and a PPI set up with Mr Lee.

They were expecting me to put real money in this deal based on pictures like this:

I have seen that car. It looks pretty nice but not flawless. Some small cosmetic issues (wheels, polish marks on paint) but certainly decent. Interior is aftermarket two tone red and black.

Some opnions to consider:
  • A PPI will miss mechanical issues and in some cases not mention items considered by the inspector as maintenance that you might consider an expensive repair.
  • Having the selling dealer or the servicing entity who services the car do the PPI is problematic.
  • Buying a car you have not personally seen or driven is a train wreck in the making, go look at the car.
  • Having an owner of a similar car who frequents Rennlist drive it, ideally with you in the car, may provide the most valuable feedback as to its running condition.
  • Car-Fax are of little value as most work on these cars is done by small boutique mechanical & body shops that do not report their work. At best you may uncover a salvage title.
  • These cars are 20 years old and therefore knowing condition trumps all other issues when purchasing one.
