Default F'd up Tramont Wheel - Wheel Repair in OC, CA??

Had tires mounted today on the new Tramonts. They bagged the wheels at the tire shop so I didn't look at them before picking up. Stacking them in the garage, one of the fronts has a bend in the wheel. MFer
Anyone with tire mounting experience know how this could happen mounting tires? Also, one of the rears has zero weights. I don't know that I've ever seen zero weights on anything. Does this seem right that both the wheel and tire are perfectly balanced with no weights?

Anyone in OC, CA know a good wheel repair shop? Not sure if I need Tramont to send me a new outer ring or if this can be messaged back without cracking.

Ouch....that Sucks. Sorry to See....especially on a Brand new set of Tramont's. They should def be liable for it....that's a pretty good bend on the Lip. Tramont should be able to send you a new Outer.

So sorry this happened Don.

My back wheels each took several weights on the Road Force machine to balance them out. Oddly, both front wheels each only took one weight each to balance.

However, after what they did to your wheel I have no faith that they balanced it. You may want to take a run up to American Tire & Brake, 23652 Via Fabricante in Mission Viejo and have them put it on their Road Force machine. Piece of mind is worth the effort.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Chuck. If the front can be straightened, I'll take them into American Tire. Probably have them check all 4. They also left one of the valve stem caps off a wheel. Luckily I kept the original caps from Tramont so not a big deal but just annoying and shows they did a crappy job overall.

... and if they are out of balance, I'd present the balance printout and bill to Jimmy's Jack joint for reimbursment.

Looks like a high energy impact to the lip. See how it flattens out, same as kids play clay thrown on a kitchentable. Its like someone dropped it on a concrete floor before it had mounted tires, or that the lip got depressed during transport somehow.
I dont think is realistic with the transporttationdamage to the outer lip due to the rims beeing shipped with the outer lips inwards against each other in the box. And if it was during transport it would have been two wheels with the same damage.
Given that you got two rims in one box setup like I did.

Its speculation but my guess is the tireshop dropped the rim somehow. I would have confronted them with the theory.

That is probably why they were all bagged up for you when you arrived. Reminds me of a friend who had a valet damage his car.. When my friend and his wife got to his car, the valet had already opened all the doors, both driver and passenger. When my friend got home he noticed the damage to the front end. The valet opened all the doors to obscure the view of the front end in the hopes that the driver would get in and not see the damage. Once the driver pulls away, the valet has plausible deniability that he caused the damage.

They weren't bagged initially. I'm in a loaner Jetta from VW due to an issue with my TDI phase 2 emissions fix on my golf. I was putting the tires on the seats of the jetta so they bagged them for me when I arrived. I didn't think I needed to inspect them so didn't see the damage until I got home.

Christine from Tramont gave me a price on the outer. 160 euro, 60 euro shipping and customs fee. Great! I have no hope that the tire shop will do anything for me but will see what the manager has to say. I feel like having another shop remove the tires and then just return them and do cc charge back. I've never done anything like that before so not sure it's even possible but not sure I trust any of their work with the one rear having zero weights.

I'd be surprised if that bend can't be massaged out. Rick at Fuchs Restoration in Costa Mesa does superb work - might want to contact him:

Thanks. I found Wheel Repair Specialists in Santa Ana. They seem to have good reviews. http://www.ocwheelrepairs.com/ I sent them an email with pics to get their opinion on straightening vs replacement.
