Is the Fabspeed Supercup Hi Performance System
the best way to turn my 993 into a furious growling
monster which sets of car alarms on parkinglots?
Is it worth spending $899 on?
Thomas, I have Fabspeed MaxFlows and just can't get enough. My car's also the same color as yours. I love driving in parking garages - especially in 1st gear at about 5k rpms.
What I'm not to sure about is the end pipes which look to "thin" to me!
The steel around the big ovals look much more thicker, or am I wrong?
Do you have any video of the RSR ones?
Actually, my track car has the cats but no mufflers and sounds awesome. Too much for the street I would think though. My neighbors definitely know when I am moving it around.
The Supercups sound incredible, and, yes, they are obnoxiously loud but not as loud as Supercups AND the cat bypass. If I can get the Car Chemistry inserts to fit properly, I will keep the 'Cups on 24/7 and have the RSR's just in case I take a long trip inn the P-car.
No, I don't think the rear pipes look too thin at all. From the rear, your eye sees the two, huge gaping holes and your brain says, "Cool."
BTW, the RSR's are basically stock mufflers, so your stock tips will fit without any issues.
You left out my Monty mufflers on your list. I think in terms of sound they they are between RSR's and Maxflows. While I have not compared them to Maxflows I can say that Steve Weiner told me that he thought they were not as loud as Maxflows. He did go on to say that since comparing sound is rather subjective that I should get another opinion.
I have compared them to a friend of mines RSRs which were a set of the earlier renditions and can say that at idle the RSR were maybe slightly louder, mine had a deeper growl. Above idle I think the Monty's are louder.
I have Supercups and love them - daily driver too. IMO, they are the best (subjective) sounding exhaust made. They are loud and agressive with a slight resonance around 2800....but they are just right for me.
I've had 2 sets of fabspeed supercups and thought they were obnoxious. That is why all fabspeed supercups change hands about umpteen times. For me there is nothing better than the OEM Porsche supercup pipes. Once you are lucky enough to acquire those you never go back!
Anyone have the TechArt muflers? Bruce Anderson says these actually add about 10hp but, to stay with this thread, has anyone compared them soundwise to some of the other set-ups mentioned?
