Hey, this thread has been resurrected.
Yes, that was a good price for my complete clutch replacement. Also, the best clutch job I've ever had. Works wonderfully.
Here's the page from the 964 shop manual where the lub/sealant is specified. Same lube specified in the 993 shop manual:

Guys,
Looking at the timestamp on this initial conversation I can say, "thank you", 13 years later for your input.
All of the described symptoms describe my problem to a T. I'm going to start with the transmission and motor mounts and then go from there. Hopefully the the solution is painless. More to come...
