Hi,
and sorry if this question has been answered before, but I can't find an answer.
I have two 993 C2s, both 6-speed. One of them has a cracked dark rosewood shifter ****, and trying to buy a replacement I finally found one at a known LA dismanteler...
While the leather boot has the same size where it's mounted to the center console, the receptacle of the **** itself is way bigger. Here a picture of both. the top one is the bought one, the bottom one is mine with the smaller receptacle:
My Porsche dealer said this is not from a 993, maybe from a 968? LAD claim their shift **** is from a 993 all I need is some adapter.
Any ideas? Is the bought one maybe from a C4?
They also have a different shape, here mine (in the meantime restored) on the left, the bought one on the right:
Actually as mine is fixed I would sell the one with the big receptacle if there is any interest. Perfect shape, would post more pictures if there is interest.
Thanks for clearing this up!
The bigger receptacle **** also fits the 993. There are two rubber bushings that can be purchased super inexpensively that slip around your naked gear lever that allows the big receptacle **** to fit tightly. I don't have the part numbers handy, but if you do a search you should be able to find the part numbers. The metal clip you show also locks everything in place. FWIW I did not have to use the metal clip ---- the rubber bushings alone were secure enough.
