Post Boxer or V8 ???

In a recent thread, "993RS" lamented PORSCHE for producing the 996. This raised some good discussion among members. (993RS, I could not have agreed with you more...I just closed the deal on my first PORSCHE...a 1996 993 C2 Coupe.)

However, I wanted to raise a question directed past the 996:

For MY2005 or slightly beyond (as is rumored) for the next generation 911, if PORSCHE returned with a car that was in the vein of the venerable 993 (true sports car, those buldging lines we all love, unique looks and character, a real driver's car, etc)...would you be apt to purchase it if it utilized a V8 instead of the (water-cooled) Boxer engine???

Interesting question.
what about the GT3/996tt boxer engine - this is supposed to be more closely related to previous 911 engines.
I guess that both will exist to target different market sectors.
Personally I like a boxer engine over the V8. V8s are too smooth and turbine like.
Tito.
