TPC supercharger MIL-STD-WD
#31
Hello
I just thought I would add a little reliability info to the thread as I'm now in year 17 and 80 kmiles with the kit on my 993. Its still going strong. Mines had a cold intake and 50:50 methanol injection in lue of a chargecooler from the start to keep it all in control. With the standard kit I've ended up with a 2.6 pulley to limit the intake temps.
Its been a whole lot of fun over the years.
Best regards, Mark.

i never liked the installation of the tensioner to the engine carrier.
Everytime you have a joint, you introduce the chance for misalignment.
I was going to design a billet part which would replace the AC bracket. Since I don't have ac in my car it was going to be easy, but most likely would cost 400 to make. The clewett was a good compromise, and the TPC pullies are A36 steel which is heavy.
All pulleys are now aluminum which will reduce the rotational mass.
It's simple physics 101.
I am waiting for the pins I ordered from Porsche to come in so I can populate the connector and install the split second box.

would you mind sharing your split second install? I saw you have it on the side of the fuse box.
Was going to mount to Supercharger, but it didn't work out

That's exactly where I had mine installed. I've since switched to the Unichip piggy back which sits on top of my Motronic ECU under the driver seat.
Aoso you may want to install a 4-6mm silicone hose instead of the clear fuel hose. WIth heat it could get kinked therefore not giving the proper vac reading to the SS Box

With the current appetite for completely stock cars these type of projects are few and far between. My exposure to the TPC kit comes from a local Porsche tuner shop that builds everything from mild to wild. The owner John Hollerian has taken me for a ride in many of the creations. The most memorable was a Protomotive 3.8 VRAM turbo. Recorded 550whp with a nice flat power curve. Brutal fast! The 993 he enjoyed driving the most though was a TPC SC car. It was the one that always came up in conversation when talking about the ultimate 993. As young bucks we focus on HP, the bigger the better. During the latter years we realize that there is much more than big numbers to it all.
Again kudos for the undertaking! You’ll be rewarded with something that that will put a HUGE grin on your face. I know you’re fully committed to the TPC route. I will again challenge you to explore custom tuning options with factory ECU. Even the 96 version can be custom tuned by Protomotive. Shoot me a PM if you want to discuss it more offline. I got no skin in the game, I just seen horrible results with piggiebacks. New injectors and custom tuning will pay great dividends for drive ability and safety.

Question for left over hoses.
For the charcoal canister, do I plug
For the oil canister vent hose, do I use a KN filter or leave open?
For the brake booster, do I remove the complex hose formula and just plug into manifold?

After doing a search, seems like you put a KN filter on the oil vent hose
For the carbon canister, Do i have to plug it? I read that if i don't hook to vacuum will get a rich condition and fail smog. Rich condition seems good.
Finally: The brake booter, do i have to install the check valve assy or can i just simply hook up the line directly to the vacuum line off the intake manifold.
