I am simply curious - why do people obtain a COA?

Is it purely for documentation purposes?

Just something cool to have. Kind of like a birth certificate for your Porsche.

FWIW, we got a COA for the C2S a few years back and discovered a few errors of omission and commission. Contacted Atlanta, they researched and issued a revised COA at N/C.

I was wondering about the potential errors i.e. Sport Classic II wheels - extended leather - carpeting , etc .

Same thing on my 98 C4S, I discovered a few inconsistencies in the COA, including the price (y a wide margin), luckily had the original window sticker. Let them know, they admitted to their mistake and issued a new (correct) one. Seems this was not an isolated case, makes you wonder how accurate is their own info/database...

Now all you have to do it get it framed. I have mine hanging in the office. Wonder why some show Suggested MSRP and others don't? Mine has it, but I have seen many without.

Do you fill out the form and mail it in with a check? Or can it be done online?

It's to prove that it's authentic. Proof that you didn't build a kit car that looks, smells and drive's exactly like a 993 C2S
Or it's because you had $120 to throw away. I spent my $120 on ice cream and couldn't afford to get one. Now everyone thinks mine is a kit car All my friends laugh at me and I'm embarrassed to drive it...

I've thought about getting a COA in the past but after reading too many posts of stating that their COA have errors galore, I much rather just make my own up. Aside from much being cheaper, it'll be correct. I'll even print it on fancy paper! Lol

On a parallel note, I just Googled 1996 Porsche COA and found different formats of the COA. Did the format change over time? Also, for those who have paid for an authentic COA, it it actually personally signed or is it a computer generated signature?

^the COA format has changed over the years. My COA for my SC is about 18 years old and it looks different than the COA for my C4S which is about 2 years old. The signatures were made to look real (done in blue ink) but I do not believe they are real - hard to tell, but my guess is that they were printed as part of the COA.

Quick Reply: Finally got my COA today ....C2S
