CAS #: 64742-47-8, Low odor paraffinic solvent. Dearomatized kerosine. Deodorized kerosene. UN #: 3082 (see Notes). EINECS #: 265-149-8. ACUTE HAZARDS, PREVENTION, FIRE FIGHTING. FIRE & EXPLOSION, Combustible. Above 66°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed. NO open flames. Above 66°C ...
So I guess all one has to just use is a liitle kerosine to avoid parafin wax from gunking up their fuel system.
Others thoughts?

No thoughts of my own but heres Mike's counter
MYTH #4: “STA-BIL BRANDED PRODUCTS ARE JUST KEROSENE.”
Here’s our official answer, direct from Chief Chemist and V.P. Of Product Engineering Mike Profetto:Quote:
“STA-BIL brand additives use a highly-purified petroleum distillate to deliver our additive package to the fuel. This solvent allows the additives to quickly blend completely into the fuel. The additives themselves would be too concentrated to blend easily, especially in cold weather. Use of more flammable solvents like gasoline would make shipping and storage too dangerous. The addition of the recommended dose of STA-BIL product to fuel has always been safe. Dozens of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) have confirmed this by testing and recommending our products.”

If so what other components are in it that are not listed on the Government mandated MSDS sheet??Originally Posted by Grapeape

I'm reluctant to call information the manufacturer themselves submitted to the federal government a "myth".
The above reply technically doesn't disagree with my initial assertion.
Please educate me??

Merging these two fluid threads. Arguably, neither of these threads should be in the 993 forum, but I'll leave them here for now.

I've been upset since they changed the formula from BENZENE, 1,2,4, TRIMETHYL CAS95636 < 8.00% 25 ppm to BENZENE, 1,2,4, TRIMETHYL CAS95636 < 8.00% 20ppm.
I now add an eyedropper of triple distilled Vodka to each tank. Condition of the top end components next engine tear down should prove this was the right move. YMWV.

Seems like a waste of good vodka.Originally Posted by max911
