IPOD - Try Again
A few folks have suggested that I should have searched the archives before posting the IPOD question. Well, I did. I am not going to waste your time with a tech post when the answer is found easily in the archives. Problem is: The "dension" link is specific - no Becker. The "becker" link simply does not make sense, at least to me. The 220 is easy - it has inputs on the back. I have tried an ITRIP and another FM xmitter and the loss of bandwidth is too great. That covers the information that can be gathered from the archive.
So, I'll try again. Do any of you have a working, hard-wired connection of an IPOD to a CDR-210 that you would recommend?
Please don't just kill the thread with a casual "you should have looked in the archive." The archive is a wonderful tool and anyone who posts without checking it first is being inconsiderate. But it is also inconsiderate to tell someone an answer is there when you don't know for sure if it is, or even if they have already searched there for it.

Replied to your PM. In a nutshell-I do not have anything hooked up yet-but am confident that I will-simply becuase I already have a changer-ie; the cable is in there. I have been very busy so I will not have this figured out until after Jan 1.

I have my IPOD connected to my CR220 (previously to a CR 210), via the Aux input. I bought the cable from becker, and it plugs in into the CD changer plug.
Now u can't control the IPOD, u will only get the sound.
Also theer is a major difference between using this method with a CR210 and a 220, I'll try to explain.
1 CR220: This is the easiest. U connect the Ipod mini jack to RCA to the aux cable which plugs in in the back of the HU. On the HU, u set it for an aux input instead of cd changer.
2 CR210: It is a bit more tricky because u can't set the unit for an aux input so what I use to do was the following, u have to keep the CD changer connected except for removing 1 of the 2 plugs. The CD changer hooks up with 1 plug that has 2 parts. 1 part for the sound and 1 part for the CD changer control. It is really easy to separate.
So u connect the new aux cable where the old sound plug from the CD changer was connected.
to listen to the ipod, u have to set u radio to play a cd from the cd changer and the radio is fooled into thinking it is going to a CD changerbut the sound will come from the ipod.

Forgot to mention:
I order to get the 210to work, u do need to have a CD changer connected. If u do not, then the HU will never give u the option of switching to that input.

Very helpful-I have the cable from Becker and will try this for by 210 w/changer. One thing-you mention:
"Now u can't control the IPOD, u will only get the sound."
This means you cannot control the iPod through head unit, correct? I could still control the music through my iPod, yes?
Also-Is there anyway of identifying the portion of the plug that is audio vs changer control? Wire color?
Thanks!
I know there are a few others out there with this situation.

Also note that it's been a year since I started to contemplate this. Gee-how time flies!!!

I was looking for an iPod connection with head unit control. The only option I found was an Alpine head unit with the Alpine iPod controller. This combo charges the iPod when it's connected and uses the head unit for control. I like this option because it allows the iPod to be in the glove compartment (or someplace that is not easily visible) and it's unlikely to induce a break-in so some doofuss can steal it..

Franklin, yes u can definitely control the ipod via the Ipod menu. What I did is buy the wired remote and it works like a charm.
To figure out the 2 plugs u can either look in the user manual or look at the becker website and it is really easy to figure out. Basically the aux cable they sold u is half of the cd changer plug and becasue of how the tabs are it will only fir one way. U can't get it wrong.
Good luck.

I purchased an aux kit fro my CDR-210 from Becker a few years ago. I had my ipod hooked to it for more than a year and then the battery died and the 210 reverted back to radio mode. Unfortunately I lost the directions and have been unable to convert it back to aux mode (series of keystrokes on the head unit). Now, Becker claims the 210 has no aux mode. Very strange.

Some more info:
If u want to actually control the IPOD as well as get the sound, there is a company that makes an adapter for the Becker radios.
DensionUSA
Check out the website

They make an adpater for the Cr/CDR220, the cost is around $220 and the mounts are very attractive.
