Default Non-switchblade remote users please respond

Please help. My new remote key fob will not program to my 1997 c4s. It was suggested that there may be two different frequencies for 993 remotes; anyway, tonight I'm looking at the back of both my working, and non-working remotes, and I notice the following:

The working remote reads on the back...
FCC ID LXP rky 116
CANADA:2298101295
ROBERT BOSCH RK116

The non-working remote reads on the back...
B
G108
z
t511D
ROBERT BOSCH RK114

Will those of you who use the non-switchblade remote please tell me what the back of yours reads? Thanks

DriveBlock 993s came w/the switchblade remote which had labeling on the housing which identified the contained circuitry. AFAIK, all US circuits had the "FCC ID LXP rky 116" identifier. If mismatched to the car's computer, your "new" unit won't ever work. If you bought it from a dealer, exchange it for the correct unit. The dealer should have known which one to order for you.

Most switchblade conversions just transplanted the switchblades' circuit board into the smaller remote housing so the labeling on a small remote housing may not always reflect its contents.

Me three.

My remotes are the same as your first one. One came with the car when I purchased it last year. Dealer provided the second one, part number 944.538.041.00

Dan,

There were some exceptions. My early '96 TT had the small remote (not switch blade) and had drive block.

Philip -

My other frequency remote, that would not program, had RK114 on it. The three I now have that work all have RK116.

Looks like you need to swap it for an "RK116" model.

My factory non-switchblade remote has the same numbers as your working one.

Philip -

The two frequencies are 315 mHz and 433 mHz, RK116 and RK114 respectively. You should be able to hear a buzz on your scanner at the proper frequencies if you hold the remote close to it while pushing the button.

The RK114 or 433 mHz remote seems to be very rare, or non-existent on US 993s. Each country has quite a bit of control over radio spectrum utilisation, and it may be that Porsche has to have two different frequencies to comply with differing regulations. Parts guys should know what to order, though.

I think there are exceptions to most everything Porsche. I've noted a number of transitional items on early MY96 993s like mine (& yours). E.g., I've got the '95 style trumpet horns. The "varioram" script manifolds began sometime from '96-'97. I guess the factory just kept installing what they had in the parts bin until it was empty

Thank You to everyone for the help! I will now order RK116 and give it a shot.
