Post Need advice on PSS-9 settings and ride height/camber etc.

Right now my car is slammed. Its pretty much set up for the track, cambered, settings are on full stiff and it tramlines somethin' fierce on the freeway. In the winter here in Oregon people put studded tires on their cars all season long for the 3 days you may actually need them so there are deep grooves on the streets and freeways. Anyway I'll be driving my car probably 4 days a week so I need it to be streetable. I'll also be doing a few DE's a year so I want it a little agressive too. I also want to get as many precious miles out of my S02's that I can. Suggestions are appreciated. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

P.S. Before anyone tells me to do a search, I did and couldn't really find anything significant that I could use.

It would probably help if you had the actual values for your alignment and current ride height.

You can change the shock stiffness yourself from full stiff to full soft; and most people around here use Euro RS alignment specs for a streetable alignment that's still good on the track. Just because you have a particular flavor of suspension doesn't mean you can't align the car like someone who's got a factory M030 suspension.

Randy
After much tweeking and experimentation on my new PSS-9 system, I have finally settled on the following settings:
fronts - 7, rears - 6
Ride height: LF - 118, RF - 118, LR 94, RR - 94
Corner balance: LF - 651, RF - 644, LR - 968, RR - 929. These were set for me, 165 pounds. Handling is great and ride better than original sport suspension. I did have to replace upper front shock mounts and installed new turbo tie rods.

David, why did you have to replace your upper front shock mounts?

Turbo Tie Rods? Do you mean RS tie rods?

Randy,

I have the PSS-9’s and am currently using the RS alignment settings. The roads in my area are heavily grooved and rutted from poor maintenance. On the especially bad roads my car also tramlines. The settings on the PSS-9’s will only soften or stiffen the ride and do effect other handling characteristics but they will probably not help with the tramlining. At least that has been my experience. However, I have been told that changing the alignment settings to a less aggressive setting such as the US M030 settings will reduce or eliminate the tramlining.

I replaced both upper shock mounts because one was faulty (worn out and felt like it was binding). Symptom was that car would understeer when turning left. Replace both as insurance. Sorry about tie rod info... replaced with 993 RS. Evidently there are 3 different ones available from Porsche. Original rubber was deterioriated on left side. (car has 43,000 miles).

David, I'm a bit suprised by your ride height as it's below RS specs. You drive it daily and have no issues with clearance?

RS Specs:
Front 124 +/- 10 mm
Rear 107 +/- 10 mm
Max diff R to L 5 mm
Max diff F to R 10 mm

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll try out the RS specs. Or maybe between the RS specs and the M030 specs.
