Rubber Door Seal 993 Coupe
I recently noticed that the drivers side door seal that attaches to the body of my 97 993 coupe is a bit frayed.
I researched the part for replacement which is #96453109500 and found that Porsche prices it at $765.
WTF?
I also found a Rennlist thread from 2002 which states that the part at that time was around $85, which sounds to me about what this thing should still cost.
Does anyone know where this seal can be found at a price that makes sense?

No experience, but I have read several saying they used the 964 seals just fine: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...oor-seals.html

Pelican used to have an 993 style OEM/German door seal for $156. I got them late last year and they were good. I dont see them offered any longer...maybe reach out to pelican and see what they say. Otherwise use the 964 seals as mentioned above.
Follow the pelican link from halfgerman above they have options for 964 seals from $52

Replacing door seals, quick fix
The replacement 993 specific seal is staggeringly expensive and some find using the 964 seal can make for a tight door fit.
For $50 you can buy a door seal made to fit earlier 1984 to 1988 Carreras. You can cut a section out of it as a donor to replace the worn threshold section on your 993’s seal. The profile is the same, the finish differs slightly, no biggie. One seal is long enough for several repair jobs. If you have a concern about joining new to old you can use a small section of vacuum or fish tank air hose slipped into the joined ends to make the mating look best.
I have done this on my 993 and now it looks like it may be time to do it again.

Even though the true 993 door seal has a 964 part number it isnt listed for a 964
The 911 & 964 seal has a 911 number and will fit the 993, Uro do a very good aftermarket one for under $20 as noted above

I went out and took a few but after reviewing them there is really nothing to see. I joined the new to old about 4 inches up the "A" pillar in the front and where the corner where threshold meets the "B" pillar in the back.
The whole process is really a cheap date so I would suggest just buying the rubber sealing and trying it. If you don't like it just move on.
By the time your car hits 100K miles you will have replaced the seal a couple of times and so buying the expensive one seems wasteful if you are a long haul owner .
From the close up picture in the posting below the item seems to have a smooth texture to it like the OE 993 seal. The one I purchased years ago had a mat ribbed texture this newer offering seems to be an extremely good cosmetic match to the original OE seals.

I spliced the lower part of the generic seal into my 993 drivers side seal which was frayed. It looked ok, not great as the profiles of the seals are slightly different. In the end, I bought another generic for $20 and replaced the whole thing. Looks much better and works a charm. $800 is laughable.

most of these options appear to be for the inside part of the seal. I like others have the piece that goes over the glass against the outside of the car. Am I hearing the 964 version of these work and look correct on the outside as well? See attached
