Thinking of replacing OEM shift **** with something else but looking at boot and shifter it seems to be one piece with no way of replacing just the shift ****.
the boot problem is not insurmountable, you can have one made, or use the bottom portion of a used original.
The problem is that the shift lever is a flat plate design, while most all aftermarket ***** have a round hole for a receptacle.

The DIY is not difficult or requires special tools/knowledge. Go to Gert's site (Carnewal.com) to see some of the best options if you want genuine Porsche parts from der Fatherland.
It is possible to mount a Momo style shift **** on it. The Momo unit uses three set pins to tighten the **** against a normally round shaft. I've seen people manage to mount these. You may also try to use the rubber shims to tighten it up a bit. Lastly, it probably works best with a **** that does not have a front/rear to it as you may end up not being able to line up exactly.
Next, you would have to figure out a way to match the existing leather boot to the ****. This is also possible with the Momo adaptor ring. The ring has a deep groove on the bottom portion to mate up to the Momo shift boot, but with a nylon zip tie, you should be able to mate it up against the original Porsche boot.
