Bill,
I too feel for you. I try to make my Porsche transitions like my women exchanges; one on deck, ready to fill in as soon as the old one is gone! This can be tricky, but it is less painful and certainly more exciting.
Keep looking...

Bill, My condolence That is a sweet blue 993!! Whatever your reasons in letting it go, I'm sure the next one in your garage will take away the pain.

You mean to tell me that it didn't sell for $35k like all the others on ebay? Let's see how long it will be before someone links an ebay ad stating 993 prices are crashing. Sorry for your loss Bill.

dear god....
your former car looks soooooooo good/bad driving away. didn't know you were really serious about selling it.
no worries though... it's just a car. there will be more to come & go.
i still feel for you. all the best...
& here's to a nice "tt-s" in your future

Ahhh Bill - one of the saddest pics I've ever seen - your car driving away. I've never seen another Rennlister take quite such a dramatic, tear producing pic like that one. Beautiful neighborhood, BTW. You are blessed in many ways.
I remember vividly when both of us were looking for the same C4S's last Dec-January as they went for sale all around the country! That was kind of fun - friendly competing for the same cars.
If you had to sell your car ... was it financial related? Job related? If so, ... you're already looking for another one? Tell us more, or maybe I missed it on the original post!
Good luck with your situation,
Steve

Bill - I know that sinking feeling :-0, it happened to me twice, a perfect 993 rolling down the street in the hands of somebody who at least has shown to be an afficionado. Fortunately, the last time around it was cured only a few days later by finding the perfect (for me) TT.
Don't know if you are going to replace it now, but sooner or later you will.... ;-)

Thanks for the sympathy, gentlemen. Yes, it was a whirlwind romance....I searched for 6 months... bought in May....sold in December. This car was to be a keeper.
To answer your question, Steve, it's both and neither. Financially I have never been more secure. However, the reason for the car sale lies behind the Brown & Williamson Tobacco and RJR acquisition. I work for B&W and since we are being acquired by RJR the prospects for further employment once the merger is approved is bleak. The good news is that I will get a very nice "golden handshake". So, since I am by nature fiscally conservative, I am "circling my wagons" to build a large cash reserve.
When I floated the idea of selling the car it was just to see what the market was like...I had no idea it would be like a shark attack
I wasn't prepared to sell but got caught up in the momentum..plus, Mr. K was moving so fast I never had time to think (my fault..not his)!
Anyway, I will be back in the market as soon as I see what the future brings. I've floated an idea on the 996 board about picking up someone's lease with a year or so left...that way I can get out around the time the merger is approved but I won't be left Porsche-less for the next year or so. I could tie up less money by buying a Boxster outright but they are still depreciating like a rock. Considering I didn't lose any money on the 993 it looks to me like they're the better "investment"...plus I love that fat a$$. When I buy again it will definitely be a C4S ... but, maybe with more options and a few suspension mods

Bill,
Start looking for a 993TT, and you will quickly ease your pain. Find a nice, mid-mileage car, and the price difference is very little. When you're ready, of course. But while thinking about it, go find a 993TT to test drive. I'll bet it'll put a pretty big smile on your glum face.

I sold a 97 narrow body to be fiscally conservative at one time...wasn't long before I regretted it and found my next mistress. Good luck. You'll be back in a 993.

Bill,
How you holding up my friend? That was a nice post by the way. It makes me see why I can never part with any of my Porsches! If I need money I will have to sell a organ first I suppose. Best wishes - Jay Gratton

Holding up okay...although I have looked in my garage a couple of times and it's a shock to see the emptiness....
After surfing the web off and on all day it looks to me like the 996's prices are falling faster than ever but the good 993's are holding strong or even gaining some. Anyone else observe this or am I still in my "I can't believe I sold it" mode?

Our cars are keepers...with so many Boxters built is logical the prices they bring...Not sure how many 996's are built but they too seem to be plenty around.
