Stephen - so you're saying that the factory TT may have had air-to-water intercoolers, rather than air-to-air intercoolers?

They could have, but I would imagine they were air to air. I just wanted to lead you guys in my thought process and allow the possibilities to be seen. If it was a 996 I would say more than likely it was water/air, but in the 993 application one would assume that it would be air to air. Who really knows. I would love to see the set up. I can think of a few places that you could put a couple of intercoolers. Does anyone know if it had a standard turbo body?

Oh sure there is hope. A couple of cores isn't THAT bad. I would suggest the water to air route. A supply tank wouldn't have to be very big and really could be put anywhere. Not sure if anyone would want to pay for the fab time though.

A company in the UK has supplied a supercharges 964 owner with water/air charge cooling. They place a cooler in the front left fender (just like th oil cooler in the front right) and run the plunbing back to the intercooler in the engine bay. I don't think a rear fender mounted cooler would be a big deal - BUT it would ake some design , good plumbing and lots of cutting of metal to route the pipework.

Just my 0.02.

Very fast car especially at the California speedway with the long straights!</strong><hr></blockquote>

Kary,
Is this the car?
Here is a complete page of all the pics. Thanks EJ.

Look at the rear of a 959 - the intercoolers are located in the rear fenders.

Not the same, I know, but not too dissimilar either.

That would be one helluva special wish - "add twin turbo, partially water cooled 959 engine and drivetrain please and delete TT spoiler..."

Gemballa's twin-turbo conversions for the 993 can be had with air/air or water/air intercoolers, the water/air options give either 450 or 500HP without a tail. They offer up to 600HP with the air/air intercooler version (which requires a tail).
