Post marker lights

Well, I have searched the archives and have not recieved any enlightment so I am posting this question here. I want to upgrade the markers to something whiter post HID install but have not found any information regarding the type of bulb. I made a trip down to a porsche dealer today and the part number is

900 631 103 90

The description is merely 12V 4W and does not talk about the bulb type. Any suggestions?

BTW does anyone in CA know of a good source to get a targa sunroof switch? This particular dealer wanted $42 for the switch.

I assume that you have the clear corner lens? I got PIAA replacement bulbs for the side marker lights from a nearby ricer shop. I just brought the bulb in and compared it to a few they had...don't remember the part/model number of the PIAA light but the bulb is very, very blue. When mounted behind the clear lens it looked so blue that I was afraid that I would have a very blue ricer light...luckily it was just very bright white. Bulb cost me about $15 for a pack of two.

Try your search under fog lights. There were a number of discussions regarding replacing them a month or two ago. Look for ZCAT3 in the search too. I'm pretty sure Bill posted some replacement information.

I used the targa sunshade switch for my garage door opener switch. I think it was about $30 before a PCA discount at Rector in Burlingame.

Tom, I was at Rector earlier. They wanted $42 and they were out of stock. They would have to ship it in from LA.

Just to clarify, there are two bulbs in the fog light unit (I am not referring to the turn signals). One is the actual fog light and is a H3. The other is what I am looking for a replacement for.

Hi, I had the same dilema when I installed my HID'S. At first I just disconnected the positioning lights. I went to several BMW and Audi dealers looking for the 10W indicator bulbs with no luck. I was able to get a twin turbo style front bumper. Once I installed it. I replaced the fog lights with the Turbo S lights and air duct... Looks much better.. If you like I can send you some pics... The actual Turbo S/ duct set up uses 35W fog lights.. Hope this helps

This link might be helpful.

It talks about both the positioning lights and the turbo s upgrade:

Thanks Jeff, I looked there but did not see anything for marker lights. It appears that there is a bunch of info for people with Turbo S bumpers but not for regular ole Turbo noses.

I looked into getting brighter bulbs to replace the parking lights (that's what I call them). Talked to Sylvania and they said they don't recommend going with a higher watt bulb than OEM. So, I decided to live leave it alone. Let me know if you find a bulb that works safely.

Thanks Max. I guess it's time to pop off the headlight and go driving around to the various Porsche/Audi dealers to see if I can find this T4W bulb....

After a false start and not quite knowing what I was looking for, I went back to the BMW dealership again and found the right bulbs. They are halogen 10W bulbs and the part number is 63-31-1-375-003. The bulbs are not cheap so you might want to shop around. The parts guys also made some dire statements but I figure the fogs in the same housing would run hotter.

In any case, they are noticably brighter but is still a different tinge from the HIDs. YMMV.

Now if only the clear lenses would arrive....
