Still unsure what bulbs to use..Read this!
Thought of sharing this study with the guys who are still wondering what bulbs to use on your 993's...
Also ,a lot on HID kit conversion and why it should not be done!

Why are you unsure? You should use the bulbs specified in your owner's manual for the type of application. All these aftermarket bulbs are *make believe* items that don't work.

Agreed. 'Trick' halogens are mostly rubbish.
HID, on the other hand, is a very worthwhile upgrade. If you get HID, go for a colour temperature of approximately 4100K which is closest to daylight.

Just to clarify, there is nothing in the referenced link that supports the statement: "Also ,a lot on HID kit conversion and why it should not be done!"
The page talks about aftermarket blue halogen bulbs, which are basically garbage as Viken has already pointed out.

Other links on the web site point to the anti-HID aftermarket kit diatribes. Good points are made, however H1 bulb conversions aren't subject to some of the criticisms in the monograph.
Ultimately, it comes down to his opinion that since the lamp housing wasn't designed expressly for HID, it will ipso facto do a poor job. That of course is a generalization, but I found the HID conversion in the 993 to work very well without the problems he enumerated.

When I first began researching HID conversions for my 993 a few years ago, I came across Stern Lighting's website. Since I tend to be leery of venders' criticism of products they don't sell, I looked for validation of Mr. Stern's self proclaimed status as a "lighting expert." Perhaps, it's just eluded my admittedly "light" effort, but to date I've found none. Indeed, I can't even find a posting of his business address or phone number.
Notwithstanding Mr. Stern's generalizations, my personal experience is my 993 HID conversion is phenomenal.
